1 month to go!

After a week of training on the Isle of Coll my year in Malaysia has become so much more real. It was an intense week where I met my partners, learnt more about the do's and don'ts of Malaysia and brushed up on my teaching skills. I had such a good week and met some lovely people who I'm glad I get to spend the next year of my life with.

I leave for Malaysia on the 20th of August and will be living and working at MRSM Mersing- a local Mara school in the town of Mersing in the South east of Malaysia. I will be an assistant English teacher to 13-17 year olds and will be living in a flat on school grounds with my 2 partners. There will be lots of time for travelling in the school holidays- especially at Christmas where we have be told we have up to 5 weeks- which I am especially excited for. I can't wait to visit more of South East Asia and truly experince a new culture.

I have now finished all my vaccinations and my fundraising is almost complete- I just need to tie up a few loose ends- so I'm pretty much all ready to go. I am definitely excited to get out there and experience a new world but there will be so much I will miss. We got taught a lot about homesickness on training and the best thing to do is I keep busy, so I am planning to spend a lot of my free time in extra curricular clubs at the school. It won't be easy leaving behind all my friends and family but I cannot wait for the adventure that lies ahead.

I would just like to thank every person, business and trust who have helped me get the chance to embark on this journey. I appreciate every single one of you and will cherish every moment I am away.

The next update will come from Malaysia- ahhhh!!
